Fine Gael has officially chosen two candidates to contest the upcoming European elections in the Midlands North West constituency.
The party’s selection convention was held in the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone on Sunday afternoon.
As expected, sitting MEP Maria Walsh will contest her second European election in the Midlands North West.
She will be joined by former jockey Nina Carberry, who signalled her intention to enter the contest earlier this week.
The selections come as sitting MEP Colm Markey withdrew his name from the race on Saturday.
