Donegal’s Paddy McBrearty to miss league final

Donegal football captain Paddy McBrearty will miss next Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 2 final against Armagh at Croke Park because of injury.

Team manager Jim McGuinness confirmed the news at Monday night’s launch of the Ulster football championship.

McBrearty limped off injured during the first half of last Saturday’s 1-18 to 1-10 win over Meath in Ballybofey, a result which saw Donegal finish top of Division 2 and unbeaten in their seven games.

A scan on Monday has prompted Donegal to rest the player for this Sunday’s league decider.

Ryan McHugh also went off with a shoulder injury during the same game – his injury is still being assessed.

Donegal’s Ulster championship quarter-final against Derry takes place in less than four weeks time at Celtic Park – on Saturday, April 20th (6:15pm).

This Sunday’s league final between Donegal and Armagh throws in at 1:45pm and will be broadcast live on Ocean FM.
