Donegal has recorded a record number of home commencements in the county during the first quarter of this year.
Figures published by the Department of Housing show that 200 commencement notices were issued for homes, a 95% increase on the same period in 2023.
Sligo also recorded an increase with 67 commencement notices issued between January and March, up from 35 in 2023.
Leitrim, however, recorded a decrease with just 11 issued which is a fall from the 53 in the first three months of 2023.
Nationally, the building of almost 12,000 new homes started in the first three months of the year.
