Aodh Ruadh GAA club heading ‘Coast to Coast’

Aodh Ruadh GAA Club, Ballyshannon, is inviting club members, supporters and friends to take part in a special ‘virtual’ event for the early part of 2021.

It’s hosting a 200-kilometre virtual ‘Coast to Coast Challenge’ as a way to beat the Covid-19 lockdown blues.

The online event, which is a club fundraiser, challenges you to  jog or walk across the Island of Ireland starting at Creevy pier in Co. Donegal and heading for Arglass in Co. Down. Participants will navigate 200km over 40 days (or less).

The first adventurers began their ‘mileage’ last Sunday, January 3rd, but you can still register to join in anytime from now until Wednesday, January 13th.

Philip McLoone, who’s one of the event organisers, has been explaining to Ocean FM Sport, how the event will work over the next 40 days, and where the idea came from:

You can find more information about the 200km virtual ‘Coast to Coast Challenge’ on the event Facebook page.
