• Connacht Spring Show is taking place this weekend at Ballinrobe Race Course, activities include International Sheep Shearing Championships, Pony classes, Cattle show, Machinery Show and Dog Show. Admission €10 and children under 12 free
   
• Do you know someone who deserves a People of the Year Award? There are heroes all around us, but unless you nominate them for an award now, we may never know. This year’s 39th annual People of the Year Awards event, organised by Rehab and broadcast live on RTÉ One television, takes place on Saturday September 14th at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin. • Sligo Orpheus Choir presents “Amadeus”, a celebration of Mozart, at Sligo Cathedral, Friday 17th May 8pm. Tickets €15.00 from the Tourist Office, Liber Bookshop and the Hawkswell Theatre and on the door. Proceeds to North West Hospice.
   
• The Northwest Vintage and Heritage Club Run in aid of Cancer Care West is on Sunday May 19th. The Club Run will assemble at Manorhamilton Church Car Park at 12.30. No entry fee and donations on the day to Cancer Care West.
   
• There will be a 4 ball mixed scramble at the Ballymote Golf Club the 17th and 18th of May  in aid of Cancer Care West. For enquires call Joe on 087 9827869 or visit cancercarewest.ie
   
• Ransboro community alert is holding their public launch on Wednesday 15th of May at 8pm in Ransboro National School. Garda siochana and muintir na tire will also speak and light refreshments will be served
   
• The Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat Soapbox Race returns for the second time on Bank Holiday Sunday 2nd of June at Astoria Road in Bundoran.  Registration is now open online at bundoranlifeboatsoapboxrace.com and balls are now on sale for the ball race which also happens on the day.  All proceeds from the event go to Bundoran RNLI - the charity that saves lives at sea.
   
• Cake Sale and Raffle on Saturday 18th May starting at 9am. Its at the Orange House beside Scarden Cemetery at Strandhill Road. All Proceeds to Sligo Cancer Support Centre, 44 Wine Street, Sligo
   
• Jerome Mc Kiernan memorial fundraising weekend Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May in Drumshanbo in aid of MS North West .  Car wasah Saturday 25th 12 noon to 4pm. Honda 50 run on Sunday 26th, Registration at 1pm.  Family fun walk and run 10km/3km on Sunday 26th. Registration at 12 noon, starts at 1pm
   
• Fashion and Variety Show in aid of St.Johns GAA Club and Carraroe National School in Sligo Park Hotel Thursday 23rd May 2013 at 7.30.  Adult €10.00 Teenager €5 Child Free
   
• A mortgage clinic with Michael Mullaney of Mullaney Solicitors and Michael Crowley the Senior Economist in Bank of Ireland will take place Thursday the 23rd May at 6pm on the Glasshouse Hotel Sligo
