Farmers urged to attand Cavan protest
Farmers are stepping up their opposition to the scrapping of the REPS4 scheme.
ICSA members are due to gather in Raphoe this morning for a ‘mock funeral’ representing what they feel is the death of Irish farming.
Meanwhile, farmers are also due to protest outside the offices of the Minister for Agriculture this weekend.
Saturday’s demonstration at Brendan Smith’s office in Cavan town comes in the wake of lobbying by around 400 farmers at Government buildings yesterday.
Sligo farmers also protested outside local TD Jimmy Devins constituency office last weekend.
Chairman of the Sligo branch of the IFA, Billy Sommerville is urging the farmers of the North West to come out in force in Cavan.
