INO confident members will back one day strike

The one day strike scheduled for the 24th of November has to go ahead to reinforce the message to Government according to the Irish Nurses Organisation.

Union members will take to the picket lines pending the outcome of various union ballots.

They’re opposed to proposals by the Department of Finance to cut the public sector pay bill by more than a million euro next year.

INO’s Industrial Relations Officer in the North West Noel Treanor said that unions need to send a message that workers can not be punished for the Governments failings.

He added that the feeling among his members is that they need to take some action.
