Councillor refutes low burglary rates for Leitrim
A Leitrim County Councillor has dismissed figures released today which claim the county has some of the lowest level of burglaries in the country.
Councillor Sean McDermott said the study by Eircom PhoneWatch does not paint a clear picture of crime in the area.
He claims that there is an increase crime in the north of the county and has called for a more visible Garda presence in the region.
He also called on the local community to be proactive in reporting crimes no matter how minor.
