Deputy Devins to meet Tanaiste on Sligo job losses
Sligo is this morning coming to terms with a further jobs blow.
It was confirmed yesterday evening that Abbot Ireland are seeking 41 voluntary redundancies from its Ballytivnan base.
The announcement came just over 24 hours after it was confirmed that Stiefel Laboratories is to close by 2013 – with the loss of 250 jobs.
The Abbot plant has been in Sligo since 1974 and employs around 360 people.
Sligo/North Leitrim Fianna Fail TD Dr Jimmy Devins has described this latest announcement as ‘devastating’ and will meet with the Tánaiste on the issue next week.
Deputy Devins says immediate action is needed
