Taoiseach says work will begin to replace jobs lost in Sligo

The Taoiseach has said the Government will be working with state agencies towards replacing jobs that will be lost from Sligo in the coming years.

Brian Cowen was speaking at the annual Ogra Fianna Fáil conference held in Bundoran over the course of the weekend.

250 Steifel Laboratories workers were told last week that the Finiskiln Business Park facility is to close by 2013.

It was also confirmed last week that Abbott Ireland is seeking 41 voluntary redundancies from its Ballytivnan plant.
