Mayor defends his position
The Mayor of Sligo has responded to calls made this morning for votes of no confidence in him.
The calls from a group opposed to the re-opening of O’ Connell street to traffic, came following comments made by Mayor Mc Garry on a national radio station.
Speaking on Newstalk this week the Mayor defended the decision by the Council to re-open the main street to traffic on the 9th of December next.
One of those opposed to the re-opening of the street Eddie Lee called for votes of no confidence in the Mayor over his comments that the street was unsafe and dilapidated.
However Mayor Mc Garry has defended his position and reiterated that O’ Connell street will re-open on the 9th of December.
He added that he did not bring any negative publicity on the town and is honoured to be Mayor.
