Fears that water levels will prove difficult to contain
There are fears that as water levels continue to rise in Leitrim, floods there could prove difficult to contain.
Carrick-on-Shannon seems to be bearing the brunt of the bad weather with Leitrim County Council advising motorists to avoid the town.
Many roads across the county are still blocked, with diversions and signage in place.
Local diversions continue to be in place at Carrick on the N4 Sligo to Dublin road.
Director of Services with Leitrim County Council, John Mc Guinness said conditions are continuing to deteriorate
