Call for further investigations into abuse cases
A retired Donegal Garda has called for further investigations into child sex abuse cases in the Diocese of Raphoe.
Martin Ridge says further inquiries could finally uncover the extent of damage preperated by offenders.
Mr Ridge was involved in the investigations that finally brought paedophile priest Fr Eugene Green to justice.
Fr Greene was jailed in 2000 for abusing children, many of them his altar boys, in County Donegal, over a period of three decades.
Martin Ridge’s comments come as the fall-out continues over the publication this week of the Murphy Report which uncovered 30 year of cover-up and denial of sex abuse cases in the Dublin Archdiocese.
One of the priests named in the report, Fr Patrick Maguire, now a convicted child sex abuser, served in Diocese for a year between 1974 and 1975.
Bishop Boyce yesterday apologised again to the victims of Fr Maguire.
Speaking on Ocean Current this morning, Mr Ridge says there are still many questions that have to be answered.
