FG county councillors back Eastern Bridge
A number of Fine Gael Sligo County Councillors have said they want to see the controversial Eastern Bridge go ahead.
The Minister for Housing and Local Services, Michael Finneran was in Sligo on Friday to discuss the omission of the bridge from the Borough Council development plan and the impact that’s having on the
development of the Cranmore Regeneration Plan.
The Minister met with borough councillors and Cranmore residents before holding a private meeting with county councillors.
In a meeting held before talks with the Minister, five of the county council’s twelve Fine Gael Councillors agreed they want the bridge to get the green light.
Party whip Cllr Hubert Keaney says they feel the bridge is a vital piece of infrastructure for Sligo town.
