McDaid is withdrawing Government support
Donegal North East TD Jim McDaid is completely withdrawing his support from the Government.
The Fianna Fáil TD had already lost the party whip after abstaining from a vote on the cervical cancer vaccination programme last year.
His decision comes in the wake of an acrimonious meeting between Fianna Fáil members in Letterkenny last night which Deputy McDaid has branded as “farcical”.
In a letter to the Government Chief Whip’s office, Deputy McDaid says he has withdrawn his support from the meeting as it was ‘made clear’ to him at last night’s meeting that he is “superfluous” to the requirements of Fianna Fáil.
