Question mark over McDaid support for Government
Donegal North East Fianna Fáil TD Jim McDaid is expected to release a statement later clarifying speculation that he is to withdraw his support for the Government.
It’s understood that Deputy Mc Daid told a meeting of Fianna Fail members in Donegal last night that he was going to inform the party whip today of his decision.
It’s believed the fall-out centred over an internal party dispute.
Deputy McDaid lost the Fianna Fail whip last year after refusing to support the decision to scrap a cancer vaccination programme for 12-year-old girls.
He was unavailable for comment when contacted this morning, although a statement on the matter is expected this afternoon.
