Father of journalist killed in car accident speaks out
The father of a former Ocean Fm Journalist, Donna Ferguson who was killed in a car accident three years ago said he can not understand the verdict the jury returned in the case.
Edward Cassidy was yesterday found not guilty of death by dangerous driving but convicted of careless driving which led to the death of Ms Ferguson.
The 24 year old journalist from Belleek was killed in the accident at Boa Island Road in Kesh on the morning of the 5th December, 2006.
The accident happened four and a half months after Cassidy completed a 12 month-disqualification for drunk driving.
Yesterday he was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined 500 pounds sterling.
Speaking on Ocean FM earlier, Gerry Ferguson said that although they were happy with the fact that Edward Cassidy was convicted for causing the death of their daughter, he cannot understand how the charge was reduced.
