European arrest warrant for Liam Adams

A European arrest warrant has been issued by the PSNI for Liam Adams who is wanted in connection with allegations of sexually abusing his daughter.

The brother of Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams walked into Sligo Garda station before Christmas but could not be detained because the necessary warrant was not in place.

It’s understood he had been staying in a bed and breakfast on Pearse road in the town.

Liam Adams’ daughter, Aine Tyrell, waived her right to anonymity to allege that he sexually abused her when she was a young child.

Gerry Adams went on to publicly appeal to his brother to hand himself in and revealed that his siblings had suffered abuse at the hands of their late father.

The Department of Justice confirmed last night that it had received the warrant and it was being processed.
