Industrial action impacting on council calls
Phone-calls from the public to Donegal County Council’s head office will be going unanswered today.
A council spokesperson has confirmed that due to an on-going industrial action campaign by trade union members, the main switchboard will not be answered during certain times both today and Wednesday.
There will be no response to calls made between 9am and 12.30pm today and for an even longer period tomorrow with no calls being answered in Lifford between 9am and 4.30pm.
The move is part of industrial action which began in January in protest at public-sector pay cuts introduced in December’s Budget with teachers, nurses and other members of IMPACT and the Craft Group of unions staging a work-to-rule.
Donegal County Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
