McGinley reacts to George Lee departure

Donegal South West TD Dinny McGinley has said he has “every confidence” in Enda Kenny’s ability as the leader of Fine Gael.

His comments come as George Lee’s shock resignation yesterday has prompted speculation over Deputy Kenny’s future as head of the main opposition party.

George Lee said he took the decision to step down as he felt isolated by the party and did not have any input into the shaping of Fine Gael’s economic policies.

He also signalled there were rumblings within the party over Enda Kenny’s abilities.

Fine Gael frontbenchers will today assess the damage from the resignation.

Deputy McGinley said while George Lee is a loss, he fully supports his leader.
