Slowey decides not to make by-election bid
Donegal Fine Gael County Councillor Terence Slowey has today said he had decided a number of months ago that he would not be putting his hat in the ring for the Donegal South West by-election.
The Ardara-based councillor had been widely tipped as being a possible contender ahead of the party’s selection convention next week.
However, he did not feature on the final list of confirmed nominations, with county councillors Barry O’Neill, Martin Harley and Ballyshannon town councillor Brendan Travers in contention.
Cllr Slowey said he had decided before Christmas he would not be allowing his name to go forward for personal family reasons, and he informed party headquarters.
He added however there was no disgruntlement over the decision and he would not be ruling himself out of any election in the future.
