Call for Summerhill contract to be awarded locally
Sligo Senator Marc Mac Sharry has called for the new Summerhill School contract to be awarded to a local business and not a firm in the north of the country.
The Minister for Education, Batt O’ Keeffe announced yesterday that the multi million euro project will now proceed to construction and tender.
Senator Mac Sharry’s call comes as there has been much criticism of northern contractors being employed on certain projects ahead of local firms
Speaking in the Seanad earlier he said the jobs must be given to those contributing to the country’s economy.
