Gardai investigate taxi terror for Carrick driver

Gardai are investigating an incident in Carrick on Shannon in which a taxi driver was held at knife point and forced to drive a man to Limerick last night.

The four hour ordeal got underway at 12 midnight when the taxi driver picked up the fare in the county Leitrim town.

The passenger then threatened him with a knife and forced him to drive to O’ Malley Park in Limerick.

When they arrived in Limerick, the taxi man was robbed and the suspect fled on foot.

He is described as being in his mid-40s, six foot in height, of strong build, and was wearing glasses.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road in Limerick are appealing for witnesses.
