Cutbacks on the cards for Sligo bus services
Bus Eireann has announced another stage of cuts in services around the country, and Sligo will be affected.
Eighteen routes countrywide will see a reduction in frequency and some services cut, which Bus Eireann says it’s had to impose due to a ten percent drop in customer numbers recently.
The company says that some services often have five passengers or less per departure, with the fare revenue not even covering fuel costs.
The Number 23 Dublin to Sligo is to be reduced from seven departures per day each way to six.
The Carrigallen based bus serving Sligo, Enniskillen and Cavan on different days will also be subject to change.
Currently, the existing service runs one day per week, operating to different locations.
The routes will now be altered and have a reduction in frequency.
Routes in Cork, Limerick, Tralee, Mullingar, Galway and Athlone are also being scaled back.
The changes will come into effect on March 28th.
