Reminder of ‘reverse route’ for St Patrick’s Parade

Those heading to the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Sligo next week are being reminded that the festivities will be taking a reverse route this year.

The parade will begin on Pearse Road at 12noon next Wednesday.

However, due to the reopening of O’Connell Street to traffic, floats of a larger scale will be unable to turn left onto Wine Street, prompting a change in direction this year, although the reviewing stand will remain in its traditional spot on O’Connell Street.

It’s the 40th anniversay of the Sligo St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Committee PRO Seamus Dolan said he’s hoping for a big turnout.
