“Ocean Race influx could benefit entire region”
The North West must move to capitalise on confirmation that the International Volvo Ocean Boat Race is to finish in Galway in 2012.
The Western Development Commission is urging surrounding counties to make the most of the influx of visitors to the region for the event.
The 2009 event generated 55 million euro for the Galway economy.
Director of Corporate Services at the WDC, Paul Keyes said Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim could also reap the benefits, especially when it comes to marine leisure activities.
