Efforts underway to attract world event to region

Every effort is being made to attract an international event to the region to replace the World Rally Championships according to Failte Ireland North West.

There was outrage recently when it was announced the stage would not visit the region in 2011 after previously being held in the area on two occassions.

However a water based event will be held in Sligo next year and Failte Ireland North West are actively seeking to attract a major world event to the area.

General Manager Paul Mc Loone said they are making significant progress.
