Fáilte Ireland “endeavouring” with festival support

The General Manager of Fáilte Ireland North West has said the tourism authority is endeavouring to provide funding support for smaller-scale local festivals.

Paul McLoone today said he could understand why some committees may be “exasperated” with the funding application process but they are doing their utmost to provide fair allocations.

His comments come in the wake of Rory Gallagher Festival organiser, Cllr Barry O’Neill describing last year’s allocation for the Ballyshannon the event as an “insult”.

Mr McLoone said he was somewhat disappointed that a representative from the festival had not been in contact directly on the issue but added that Fáilte Ireland is always open to talks.
