Long waiting lists at Letterkenny General Hospital

The latest figures from the Health Service Executive shows that patients across the region are waiting almost 100 days- in some cases to see a hospital surgical consultant as an outpatient.

The most up to date figures revealed on the HSE’s website indicates that patients who are referred by their GP to see a hospital surgical consultant – have an average waiting time of 98 days at Sligo General Hospital and 207 days at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The waiting time for patients who are waiting to see General Medical Consultants in Sligo General Hospital is almost 130 days while patients attending Letterkenny hospital are being forced to wait up to nearly 260 days.

However, the HSE says it is working to reach the International target for all new routine referrals within 90 days.
