Donegal crash-the worst in Irish history
An investigation is continuing today into the cause of a crash in Co. Donegal, which claimed the lives of eight men.
The men, aged between 19 and 23 years old, were killed instantly – while the driver of a second car, 66 year old Hughie Friel, also died.
A ninth man, the sole survivor of the crash, remains in a stable condition in hospital this morning.
The Road Safety Authority has described it as the ‘worst road accident in the history of the state’
