Sinn Fein take High Court action over by-election
The Government is to appear in the High Court today as a result of an action taken by Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty over the government’s decision not to hold the Donegal South West by-election.
Earlier this month, the High Court granted leave for a judicial review following a decision by Senator Doherty to mount a legal challenge to the Government’s decision not to hold the contest.
The seat’s been vacant since Pat the Cope Gallagher was elected an M-E-P last year.
Sinn Féin went to the High Court two weeks ago seeking a judicial review of the Government’s decision.
