North West MEP says there’s no resolution in sight to the dairy crisis



A North West MEP says there is no resolution in sight at a european level to the dairy crisis.

Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy is a member of the Agriculture Committee in the european parliament.

He’s accusing the Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan of not being up to the task of dealing with falling milk prices and the general crisis in the dairy sector.

Mr. Carthy says the deferral of the superlevy needs to be considered as called for most recently by the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association yesterday.

He says that there is a lot to be done to deal with the situation which is causing huge problems of cashflow for farmers.

He told Ocean FM News that the Commission needs to take responsibility for the crisis and stop putting the blame on farmer:
