Calls for urgent clarification on bus service

Added: 18-07-2012

A Donegal Senator is calling for urgent clarification on the future of a subsided bus service from Donegal to Dublin hospitals

The Fianna Fail Senator raised the issue in the Seanad yesterday evening where he called on the Minister for Health, James Reilly, to outline the situation with the service which travels to the capital with patients.

Last week the Health Service Executive said it had carried out a review of viability of the service and decided to end it on the 27th of this month.

A spokesperson for the HSE said there has been an increase in the numbers of public service buses on the Donegal to Dublin route, with shorter journey times and this has resulted in fewer patients using the HSE-funded bus service.
