Calls for increase in funding for Festival

Added: 19-07-2012

There are calls for an increase in funding for the annual Irish Music Festival in Tubbercurry in an effort to build on the success of the event.

The Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Dance has been running for 26 years this week and draws large crowds of traditional musicians from both here and abroad.

The week long celebration runs until Saturday and hosts a range of classes throughout the 7 days.

Local Fine Gael Cllr Michael Fleming says the festival attracts a significant number of tourists to the region annually and is calling for support to ensure its future is secured.
