Opening times for Sligo town's main cemetery are due to be extended following a campaign for greater access to the graveyard.
A petition containing 1500 signatures was handed over to the Sligo Borough Council last month requesting the gate remained opened past 6pm during the winter season.
Those wishing to visit their loved ones grave will now have 24-hour access through a pedestrian gate at the new cemetery
Marie Lowry -who lost her daughter Amy last year - has campaign to have the gates opened for longer throughout the winter season.
