Concerns over future of Leitrim Fire Service

Concerns are being raised over the future of the Fire Service in Co Leitrim.

Cllr Franice Gilmartin says he fears there maybe cut backs and stations closures in the county as a result of a value for money review which is currently being conducted.

The Fianna Fail Cllr raised the issue at the monthly meeting of Leitrim County Council stating he has concerns the review may recommend that some services are downgraded or removed completely.

He says people lives will be put at risk if any services are removed.
