Concerns over future of Malin Head station

A Donegal community activist is calling on the government to give a firm commitment on the future of Malin Head Coast Guard Radio Station.

It follows a 'value for money' review published last week which recommended that the number of marine coast guard stations be cut from three to two. The report favoured the retention of Valentia over Malin Head.

Fr. John-Joe Duffy says the potential closure would have a detrimental effect in saving lives in the North-West and is calling on Donegal North-East, Fine Gael Deputy, Joe McHugh to urgently clarify the situation.
