It’s understood a meeting between management and staff at Cregg House in Sligo will take place today following the decision by the daughters of Wisdom this week to end their role as providers

They claim they can no longer provide the level of service needed following a 1.3 million euro cut in funding from the Health Service Executive.

Cregg House provides care, education and support for over 200 people with intellectual disabilities from the North Western region

Management are expected to brief staff at Cregg House in Sligo at around 11 o'clock this morning.

The Spokesperson for Impact Trade Union in the North West Richie Caruthers which represents staff at the facility says he is welcoming the reassurances from the Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Kathleen Lynch yesterday afternoon that the service provided at Cregg House in Sligo will not be interrupted, as a result of the decision of the Daughters of Wisdom to withdraw their services.

He says there are some positives to the HSE taking over the facility.
