Glenfin Hold Off Na Rossa To Claim County Title
Last Sunday evening in Glenties Na Rossa lost out by the narrowest of margins as Glenfin was Crowned U16s division 2 County Champions.
In a hard fought match Glenfin took a 5 point lead into the break but a spirited second half performance from the men from the Rosses wasn’t enough as Glenfin held on to win by a point and lift the title.
Final Score: Glenfin 1-07, Na Rossa 1-06.
Kilcar Regional Minor League Champions
Last Friday evening in Dunkineely Kilcar played Aodh Ruadh in the Regional league division 1 Final.
This a dress rehearsal for this week’s championship the Kilcar men proved too strong with Stephen McBrearty and Aidan McGinley winning the midfield battle they took a big lead into half time and pushed on again in the second half to lift the title by 7 points. A brilliant second half goal from Aodh Ruadhs centre half forward Colm Kelly narrowed the gap but Kilcar were the better team on the night and will take a lot of confidence going into this week’s championship.
On the down side Kilcar County Minor Aidan McGinley had to be carried off the pitch midway through the second half with an ankle injury.
Final Score: Kilcar 1-20, Aodh Ruadh 2-10.
