Homeowners warned of bogus callers

Homeowners are been advised to be wary of bogus callers calling to peoples homes claiming to collect the Household charge.

It's understood the Cant Pay Won't Pay campaign group have been informed by members of the public -of people claiming to be from the council -who are calling to people's homes to collect the €100 fee.

A warning has now been issued following the reports which are understood to have occurred recently in the West Donegal area.

A Spokesperson for the group is advising people to be aware of the matter.

Donegal County Council has confirmed that no Local Authority in the area is currently collecting the household charge by way of a door to door collection system.
