Interest high in sports grant scheme

The number of applications for the Sports Capital Grant in Sligo and Leitrim has been revealed.

In Sligo, forty-seven applications have been applied for with a total of just four million euro being sought for projects totaling five million.

While, in Leitrim thirty applications have been received for a total of four million euro.

It's expected that the successful applicants will be informed by November 2012.

Sligo-North Leitrim, Fine Gael Deputy, Tony McLoughlin says due to the level of demand for the funding, some difficult decisions will have to be made over allocation of funding.
