Campaigners against fracking in Co. Leitrim are due to hold a special meeting to discuss the issue this evening.
Award Winning Human Rights Worker, Nnimmo Bassey will attend a meeting in Manorhamilton to voice his opposition to extracting shale gas for what he is saying is the dangerous process of hydraulic fracturing or fracking.
Two gas companies have been granted licences to explore for natural gas in the Lough Allen basin which covers parts of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
Mr. Bassey is best known for his organisation's work to oppose Shell's activities in Nigeria.
The meeting will take place in The Bee Park Centre at 8pm.
