As expected Fine Gael Councillor Phonsie Travers is the new Cathaoirleach of Ballyshannon Town Council.
Fianna Fail Councillor Pat O'Malley was also proposed for the Chairman's job.
After a vote, Councillor Travers was elected to the Cathaoirleach’s position.
He has served on the Local Authority for 28 years and it's his third time to hold the position as Cathaoirleach.
Fine Gael Councillor Eugene Dolan was elected as the new Leas Cathaoirleach.
Speaking to Ocean Fm news after his election, Phonsie Travers said he was very proud to be elected as Cathaoirleach and says the next 12 months will be a very difficult time for the town council.
