Restrictions at two Donegal beaches have been lifted from this afternoon.
Donegal County Council says that both Rossnowlagh and Murvagh beaches are open to bathers once again after the Local Authority was forced to close the beaches when a large amount of dead fish and marine life was washed up on the shores.
The red flags have been taken down and the red/yellow flags are now flying at both beaches. This situation is being closely monitored by Donegal County Council and the Council will keep the public informed if the situation changes.
A spokesperson for the Council says it also wants to remind the public that there is an algal bloom in progress off the coast of Donegal. While, this is a natural phenomenon the algae is not toxic to humans but may result in dead marine life washing up on some shores.
