Senator hits out at disability services cuts

A Leitrim Fianna Fail Senator is hitting out at the Government for cuts in disability services for school leavers.

Senator Pascal Mooney says the reductions in funding will leave hundreds of pupils with disabilities with nowhere to go in September.

It's estimated around 660 school leavers with disabilities around the country need some form of specialist placement this autumn - and it's unlikely all of these will be accommodated.

Raising the matter in the Upper House, Senator Mooney, who is the party's Seanad spokesperson on Social Protection described the cuts as 'totally unjustifiable'.
