Sligo Judge apologises for Polish remark

The Irish Polish Society says comments made by a District Court Judge from Sligo about the Polish community were inappropriate and irresponsible.

It comes after Judge Mary Devins compared the social welfare system to a charity for Polish people, at Castlebar District Court last Friday.

In a statement last night, she apologised for the remarks, saying they were intended to be specific to one incident and were never intended to offend the Polish community.
