Senior: The Seniors played near neighbours, Coolera/Strandhill, in the second round of the Senior Championship last Sunday at Markievicz Park. Mary’s were slow out of the blocks in the first half and the opposition had a number of chances before Mary’s settled with a score from Mark Breheny. Mary’s got to grips around the middle third and with David Caffrey on form, we went in at half time with a lead of St. Mary’s 0-9 Coolera/Strandhill 0-4. Coolera narrowed the margin to three points within ten minutes of the restart but Mary’s rallied once more and became more dominant around the middle third to run out winners in the end on a scoreline of St. Mary’s 0-16 Coolera/Strandhill 0-11. The Seniors return to Division 1 League action this Friday night, when we travel to Coola to take on Shamrock Gaels (Throw-in 8pm). We ask supporters to come out and get behind the team.
