Senior: The Seniors travelled to Coola last Friday evening to take on Shamrock Gaels in the Division 1 League and came away with a convincing win. Mary’s started the match slowly and trailed the home side by three points, 0-5 to 0-2, after twenty minutes. However, we got on top around the middle third before the end of the half and outscored the home side by seven points to one in the remaining ten minutes to lead at the interval on a scoreline of St. Mary’s 0-9 Shamrock Gaels 0-6. Mary’s continued where they left off on the restart and three second half goals from Neil Smyth, Anthony Henneberry and Stephen Coen helped Mary’s to a win on a final score of St. Mary’s 3-14 Shamrock Gaels 1-10. The Seniors play away to St. Farnan’s this Friday evening in the penultimate round of the Division 1 League (Throw-in 8.30pm). We ask supporters to come out and get behind the team. Training for all panel members continues this week on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.00pm.

Junior: The Juniors had a comprehensive win over Owenmore Gaels in Collooney last Sunday evening in the Division 4 League. The team played poorly in the opening period but upped their game after the break to win on a scoreline of St. Mary’s 5-12 Owenmore Gaels 3-4. The Juniors play St. Farnan’s this Sunday afternoon at Kent Park (Throw-in 2pm) in the Division 4 League. Please support. Training for all Junior panel members continues this week.

Senior/Junior Membership: Membership for Senior and Junior players is now due. All players must complete the club registration form and forward full payment by June 30th. It is the responsibility of each player to ensure they complete this process.

Saturday Morning Coaching 2012: The Saturday Morning Coaching Programme for 2012 continues each Saturday from 10:45am to 12:00pm. The programme provides high quality Gaelic Football coaching for girls and boys aged between 5 (on 1 April 2012) and 12 years of age. We look forward to seeing new and old members return for another fun season. For further information on the programme please contact Gerry Connolly on 086-2545529.

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camp: The Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camp will visit St. Mary’s from Monday July 9th to Friday July 13th inclusive. The Camp is for boys and girls aged 6 to 13 and coaching will be provided by high quality coaches. For more details or to book a place, contact Joe Campbell on 0868381270.

U-14 Girls Féile: Our U-14 Girls team put in a magnificent performance at Féile Peil na nÓg in Laois/Offaly last weekend. The side won their opening two matches before drawing their third match. They only lost out on a place in the semi final on score difference. Although to lose out by such a narrow margin was devastating for the girls and the management team, all involved can be very proud of their performances over the weekend as they represented the Club impeccably on and off the pitch. Special mention to Tommy and Cathy who have put in a huge effort preparing the team on and off the pitch for the competition.

U-16: The U-16s are due to commence their A Championship campaign next Monday evening with a fixture versus Easkey at Kent Park (Throw-in 7pm). Please support. Training continues on Mondays and Fridays with times to be advised. Anyone with any queries or issues can contact David on 086 8367005.

U-14: The U-14 ‘A’ League side continue their League campaign with a trip to Easkey to take on the home side this Friday evening (Throw-in 7pm). Please support. Training continues this week. Our U14 ‘C’ league team played Geevagh at home on Friday in the shield semi-final. After a good start we made some changes to the team as well as losing Dónal Fidgeon and Adam Lynch to injury before halftime and finished the half 2 points up. With a re-structured team for the second half, and with the injured players returned, we went on to win and now meet Bunninadden in the final – keep an eye on www.sligogaa.ie for fixture details.

U-12: The matches versus Tubbercurry were postponed last week. Next Tuesday July 3rd, we are due to travel to Coola to take on Shamrock Gaels (Throw-in 7.30pm). Training continues this week.

Pitch-side Signage: Anybody interested in advertising their business on our pitch-side signage please contact Ultan Smith on 086 2587389.  The pitch-side signage provides a great opportunity for local businesses to advertise their business in the community at an affordable price.

County Scene: We commiserate with the Sligo Minor Squad who were very unlucky in losing out to Mayo in the Connacht Minor Championship Semi Final last Sunday at Castlebar. Trailing by six points at half time, Sligo were by far the dominant team in the second period but just couldn’t close the deficit, losing on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-6. The team was managed by Tommy Breheny and the Club had strong representation amongst the Panel. Congratulations to the Sligo Ladies on their narrow win over Leitrim in the Connacht Intermediate Championship semi final. St. Mary’s player Emma Hansberry who was introduced at half time scored three points including the winning point.

Best Wishes: We wish Senior player, Michael Hanley, well as he departs to South Africa for the summer months. We hope to see him back in the red and black in the near future.

Condolences: The Club offers sympathies to the Nicholson family, Kevinsfort Heath, on their recent bereavement.
