Successful weekend for Sligo AC athletes

The Sligo AC Juveniles competed at the National Juvenile Indoor Championships in Nenagh at the weekend.

Zak Irwin (above) claimed gold in the boys U17 200m final in an impressive time of 22.83.

This was backed up by three silver medals from walkers Orlaith Delahunt, Dylan Carty and Robbie Kelly, and there were also two brilliant bronze medals for long jumpers Emily Burns, who was demoted on the last jump of the competition after sitting in silver throughout, and Colm Bourke (below), who leaped an impressive 6.38 to claim his first ever national medal.

There was also excellent performances from Stacey Kerr in the girls U16 200m final finishing a superb fourth, Caelainn McGonigle finishing seventh in her 800m final and two fine runs by Thomas Delahunt and Aishan Patil in their 800m events.

Elsewhere Sligo AC’s Sarah McCaffrey and Joe Davey (pictured below) ran superbly in the Omagh half marathon on Saturday.

On a tough course, Joe completed it in 1:46 and Sarah in 2:01.

Also well done to Mairead McMorrow finishing in a time of 1:58.

Both ladies were competing in their first half marathon.

Also well done to Enda Whelan from Sligo AC who completed the event in a time of 1.38.

Elsewhere, Sligo AC brothers Alan (below) and David Kearins (bottom) ran in the Finn Valley 5K, with Alan clocking a fine 16.49 and big brother David who cruised around in 17.36.
