Large crowds are expected to descend on Sligo for the 53rd Annual Yeats International Summer School which will run over the next two weeks.
The school will include Irish language and drama workshops, walking tours, Irish dancing, poetry readings, day trips and a series of lectures and seminars.
Speakers include Hugh Haughton of the University of New York, James Pethica of Williams College, Rajeev Patke, National University of Singapore and Kevin Barry of the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Renowned poet Seamus Heaney will take part in a poetry reading in The Hawk's Well Theatre as part of the school.
The school runs daily until Friday 10th August.
